GENERATION OF SEMI-FINISHED PRODUCTS IN CAM
In today’s episode I will present to you how the CAM semi-finished product generation function works.
The design engineers responsibilities rarely ends with a complete furniture project. That is why WOODEXPERT, in addition to quick modelling, also generates the data needed for the execution of modelling, such as drawings, bills of materials and NC programs. To increase the capabilities of the CAM, we have introduced the semi-finished product generator. This function allows all semi-finished products required for machine processing to be generated automatically.
The semi-finished products can be placed in two locations:
1. Drawings
2. CAM
The formats from which the element will be processed are created by using allowances assigned by default to materials or variables when they are edited. At the design stage, however, they are presented only as an OpenGL preview.
To create a semi-finished product for the selected element, you have to select the “Create CAM data” operation, which automatically creates a new WE-CAM configuration. Thus, a new model with CAM data appears in the configuration tree.
Then, if you go to processing, you submit to the CAM not only the finished element, but also the format from which it is to be created, with the possibility to select the appropriate base on the machine and to simulate milling prior to veneering.
Additionally, after the settings have been properly configured, the user can generate drawings that contain a frame illustrating the format, allowing for the possibility to save the dimensions of openings and other processing operations into the machine database. This documentation may be very important and helpful in production plants where the programs are developed by machine operators.
