Modelling in WOODEXPERT
In this article we will briefly discuss designing furniture in WOODEXPERT.
Component library
Along with the program you get a component library with almost 2000 ready components that you can use to assemble your furniture. You will find here standard constructions such as carcasses, doors, sets of shelves or partitions, as well as a rich collection of ready sets from popular manufacturers: drawers, lift systems, feet, handles etc. The library is constantly being expanded. Every component contains appropriate drillings and product index.
You can find full list of accessories from producers in this article.

Importing a room
Before you start modelling furniture, you can build or import a room or a sketch. It is possible to mate dimensions of the furniture to walls of the room or lines of a sketch. Changing those will cause the dimensions of the furniture to automatically adjust.

Inserting components
Designing furniture in WOODEXPERT is based on a simple insertion mechanism. First I search the library for the component I want to insert. I can speed this up by using the search bar.
The search bar will let you find the desired component instantly. |
A insertion wizard appears. Using it, I define the placement and size of the component, I select the desired variant and adjust the parameters.
Adding more elements to a cabinet is quick and easy thanks to “Find walls” feature. Just select one internal wall of a carcass and click “Find walls” button. The program will find the appropriate space. If dimensions of a cabinet change, the computer will adjust. Another properties of the component will adjust as well: amount of hinges in a door, drawer’s depth or amount of screws in a row.
When adding elements to a cabinet, you can just select one face and click “Find walls” button. |
Saving to library
When it comes to making furniture, there is no one standard. Every company has their own methods. That’s why, instead of trying to create a library of every possible cabinet, we have decided to simplify the process of adding your own models to the library.
After completing a cabinet, I open “Create component” tool. I enter the name for my new component and its location. And that’s it. New model immediately appears on the list and is ready for use in other projects. It’s independent from the original and fully parametric.
It is also possible to create your own library component from scratch. Our manual will lead you step by step through the entire process.
Adding your own models to WOODEXPERT library couldn’t be simpler. |
Untypical furniture
WOODEXPERT is more than box furniture. You will easily model non-typical shapes such as shop furniture, converting vans to campers, constructions made of metal, glass, wood, plastics, stone, composite, bent elements…
With WOODEXPERT you can easily model untypical constructions as well. |
This is just a fraction of WOODEXPERT’s capabilities. You can find more information in other articles on our blog and on our YouTube channel. Feel free to contact us and schedule an online presentation.
