Series definition
One of the main objectives when developing the furniture design program WOODEXPERT was to reduce as much as possible the time a designer has to spend on designing a new product. That is why the user can create series of types already at the early stage of preparation of settings.
What are series of types? They are nothing more than lists of data created by the end user, which can be used in the process of creating a new design.

These lists can be used in several places, including component definitions and material lists, thus avoiding time-consuming searches through company resources. An example of such a solution is the “Thickness of Boards” list which contains all possible thicknesses of boards stored in the company’s warehouse.
By plugging in a predefined list, the user can select the appropriate board thickness when inserting a new component from the library without having to wonder whether the selected parameter is available in the warehouse or from the manufacturer.

Another example of the use of series of types is the drop-down lists used in the BOM Manager. Such lists, as in the attached example, can be freely created within the customised fields of the BOM. These may include:
– operations
– routes
– machines
– departments
– many others, not necessarily related to production (e.g. yes / no).

You can find out how series of types improve the work of a furniture designer in the following video.
